The KGF College of dental Sciences & Hospital was established in the year 1991 with 40 admissions for the BDS course.  The institute was recognized by Dental Council of India and affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences government of Karnataka.

The college campus is located at BEML nagar KGF Kolar distirct.  It is surrounded by lush green and calm environment, spread over an area of few acres.  The admission is full every year and students from various states of India and Internationals students seek admission. Scholarships for students are provided through NSP, SSP portals for eligible candidates, Alumni of this college has achieved great success in their career and have taken our college to great heights.

The campus is houses 9 specialty departments namely

  1. Oral Medicine and Radiology
  2. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
  3. Periodontology.
  4. Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics.
  5. Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry.
  6. Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
  7. Prosthodontics, Crown and Bridge including Implantology.
  8. Oral Pathology and Microbiology
  9. Public Health Dentistry.

The departments are well equipped with specified number of dental chairs and instruments as per DCI regulation, Preclinical and clinical labs, ceramic lab, casting laboratories, orthopantomograph, cepholograph x-ray machines, radiovisography.

All the above will enable the staff and students to carry over the treatments procedures and also in training the students.

The teaching faculties are well trained and highly qualified and dedicated which makes the students fetch Distinction and First class marks. The staffs regularly attend conferences and scientific sessions to update their knowledge.

We have a team of non teaching faculty who are well trained, they enable the institute to carry over the admission process, the help in conducting university theory and practical examinations. Their involvement is highly appreciated in the smooth functioning of the college.

Regular CDE programmes and scientific seminars are conducted for the benefit of the students and staffs, the students and staffs are deputed for conferences and CDE programmes conducted elsewhere.

Regular cultural and sports activities are held in the college and they are allowed to participate in inter college competition.

There is a museum which provided health education to patients, Tobacco Cessation center under the public health dentistry department, where the patients with smoking and other tobacco habits are counseled for stopping the habits.

On an average we have  OPD with 100 to 150 patients on regular basis, we have peripheral rural centers located at a distance of 5 kms where patients are screened and referred to the hospital. Regular camps are conducted at rural places and referred to the hospital for treatment.

Due to pandemic, Covid-19 the students are regularly engaged with online theory classes as per the time table for the present year and next academic year to complete the syllabus.

The goals and objectives of the dental graduation course, is to provide adequate knowledge, necessary skills and reasonable attitudes which are required for carrying out all activities appropriate to general and dental practice, involving preventive, diagnosis and treatment of anamolies and diseases of teeth, mouth, jaws, and associated tissues.

The students are taught and trained about the concept of community oral health education to enable them to participate in the rural health care delivery programmes.
